Centerville High School snagged their fourth Penguin Bowl win on February 6th.
Youngstown State University College of STEM and Dr. Ray Beiersdorfer have coordinated the event for the past 14 years, along with the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.
Part of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB), the Penguin Bowl offers students scholarship opportunities and experience competing with other students. This year, the students spent the night in the polar bear exhibit, toured the aquarium, and pet the penguins.
The competition began with a round-robin to determine which teams would compete in the final tournament for the win. Seated eighth, Centerville’s B team eventually took the lead over their own A team as well as other local schools like Ursuline and Boardman.
