This year marks an epic Pi Day: 3-14-15 at 9:26:53. This is a once-in-a-century occurrence, and STEMians have plans to celebrate this thrilling day during Engineer’s Week so everyone can join!
Engineer’s Week will take place March 23-27, and students must purchase a wristband ($5) or a wristband and bandana ($10). Each wristband and bandana’s color will represent a different STEM discipline. Electrical engineering will have black wristbands, mechanical engineering will have red, civil engineering orange, chemical engineering green, industrial engineering blue, and mathematics will have gold wristbands.
All week the different departments will have a Penny War; whichever department collects the most money at the end of the week will win that event. On Monday different disciplines can battle it out with tug of war and dodge ball. Tuesday there will be an egg drop and pie-eating contest, and Wednesday participants will get to play Jeopardy. Thursday STEMians will be able to tape a person to a wall and stay afloat in a concoction of cornstarch and water. The week will wrap up with a bar crawl downtown on Friday.
At the end of the week, whichever discipline gains the most points will receive a 3D printed trophy.
