The 7 Days of STEM Festival will be seven whole days of celebrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology. The festival, which will be held September 15-21, will be an exciting hands-on, critical thinking celebration that includes ‘walking on water,’ STEM student for a day, and much more. All of these activities are in preparation for Silly Science Sunday!
YSU STEM is involved with many of the different activities this year. We are offering activities for more than just children though. One of our biggest events will be a Lecture Series with Dr. Thomas Serenko, who, just this last year, was awarded Outstanding Alumnus at the STEM Awards dinner. On Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m., Dr. Serenko will be speaking on the The Utica and Point Pleasant Shale industry from a geological and historical point of view. To register for this event, please contact Jenifer Miller at 330.941.4635.
Specifically for high school seniors, we will be hosting, STEM Student for a Day, on September 19th. While this event is almost full, there are still a couple spots left. Come and enjoy all that STEM has to offer with a current STEMian as your guide. Hands on participation is really the way to go if you are thinking about a future in a STEM Career. If you would like to register for that, please follow the directions on this form!
STEM is also hosting a variety of other events including planetarium shows and Sidewalk Astronomy.
The Silly Science Sunday Street Fair is an OH WOW! extravaganza, but YSU STEM will be providing many different students and faculty to be a part of the fun. There will be robots, steel-making demonstrations, and much more. Ticket for Silly Science Sunday are free and will be available at the gate.
